On Saturday 4 October, an open day was held at INRAE in Poligny as part of Science Festival 2025 and to celebrate the site's centenary (100 years of knowledge in dairy and cheese research), attracting the curiosity of our young audience as well as visitors of all ages.
Open house in Poligny
Nearly 200 visitors passed through the doors of the FROMEX platform to discover the behind-the-scenes world of a century of dairy and cheese research, in an atmosphere that was both scientific and convivial.
Our colleagues enthusiastically welcomed the public. They all shared their passion, explaining the challenges of their work and the history of a century of research and innovation in the service of the dairy industry.
Between demonstrations and discussions, the scientific mediation workshops captivated young and old alike. Visitors were able to try their hand at cheese-making tools, sharpen their senses with the ‘Mission nez fin’ workshop to recognise cheese aromas, or discover fermentation, cheese standardisation and the secrets of DNA and microbes. It was a great way to take a fun and interactive look behind the scenes of research.
The day was also marked by visits from Pierre-Édouard Colliex, Prefect of Jura, Danielle Brulebois, Member of Parliament for Jura, Dominique Bonnet, Mayor of Poligny, and Christelle Morbois, Vice-President of the Jura Departmental Council.
