Id-AAF: Impact of D-amino acids (D-AA) derived from plant-based peptones on the growth and functionality of Faecalibacterium
The project aims to develop an optimized culture medium for the industrial production of Faecalibacterium by studying the impact of the D-amino acid (D-AA) composition of plant-based peptones. DAAs are now recognized for their importance in bacterial and human physiology (immunity, intestinal barrier, neurotransmission), and their presence in culture media could directly influence the growth, viability, and functional properties of Faecalibacterium. The industrial-scale culture and production of this major commensal bacterium of the human colon remains difficult today due to its strict requirements in terms of anaerobic environment and nutrition.
