FROMIC: An Educational Self-Training Tool for the Cheese Sector
FROMIC is an educational self training tool for the cheese sector developed to support the terroir cheese sector in exploring microbiota and adopting omics methods. The objective of the initiative is twofold: firstly, to facilitate the utilisation of omics methodologies within the industry; secondly, to raise awareness of the challenges posed by microbial ecosystems. A further aim is to support the self-training of relevant parties (industry, advisers, students, etc.) in these areas.
Available, free of charge, FROMIC aims to democratise the use of omic methods and promote optimised management of microbial ecosystems to enhance the quality of local cheeses. This initiative marks a key step towards a better understanding and control of microbial ecosystems, opening the way for optimised practices and products that are even more closely with consumer expectations.
